Jonathan Michael Magdziasz, a devoted family man and longtime United States Postal Service employee, died at age 53 on October 21, 2026 after a battle with glioblastoma.

Born in Manchester on August 18, 1973 to Steven and Nancy Magdziasz, he grew up in Bedford where he enjoyed surfing, skiing, skateboarding, and BMX biking, and began working early, buying his first car at fifteen.

He graduated from West High School in 1991, grew to 6 feet 10 inches, and attended Plymouth State College and the University of New Hampshire before working as a bouncer and bartender, where he met the emerging band Godsmack.

Magdziasz built a 33‑year career with the USPS, serving as a letter carrier, supervisor, and postmaster, and was highly respected by customers and fellow carriers for his dedication and reliability.

In the summer of 2003 he met Portia while boating on the lake; they married in July 2007 at Bay’s End and raised daughter Natalee (2009) and son Henry (2011) in Manchester before moving to Gilford in 2012.

He coached youth sports year‑round, hosted fantasy football drafts, and enjoyed working on cars, boats, snowmobiles, and home projects, often spending time on the dock with his family and dogs.

Friends and family remember him for his generous heart, quick wit, and willingness to help anyone in need, from assisting a stranded boat to offering a free puppy.

He is survived by his wife Portia, children Natalee and Henry, parents Steven and Nancy, brother Jeffrey, in‑laws Louis and Diane Ricciardiello, sisters‑in‑law Kelly Przekaza and Stevie Larrere, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and three dogs, while preceded in death by his grandparents, uncle Cliffy Pow, and brother‑in‑law Mark Goodwin.

A celebration of life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, at Gunstock Mountain Resort’s Barrel Bar & Grille in Gilford, and the family requests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or the New Hampshire Humane Society.
