National Geographic promoted its documentary “Everest: The Other Side” by having director Jimmy Chin and ski mountaineer Jim Morrison rappel down a billboard in West Hollywood. The stunt celebrated the film’s theatrical release.

Morrison said the experience felt fun and larger than expected, noting he was back in a vertical world with his skis. He described the setup as an actual ski mountaineering rig.

The film follows Morrison’s emotional quest to ski down the North Face of Mount Everest, the most difficult and coveted ski line on the mountain. He hopes viewers will find inspiration to tackle their own personal Everests.

Chin, who won an Academy Award for “Free Solo,” said he was attracted to the story because it contains a deep human narrative that can move and inspire audiences. He also wants to show Everest in a way people have never seen before.

The documentary is currently playing in theaters and IMAX.
