James Howard Wright, a devoted teacher and grandfather from Eastport, Maine, died on October 23, 2026. He was known for his lifelong commitment to education and his love of science.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Corinne, their children Wende, Karen and Brad, and several grandchildren, while his son Wade preceded him in death. The family remains close, gathering annually for Fourth of July celebrations in Eastport.

Wright began his career teaching science in Wiscasset, Maine, and later served as principal in Damariscotta and for nearly two decades in Livermore Falls, where a school addition bears his name. His leadership left a lasting impression on the community.

His enthusiasm for science inspired students and family, leading him to conduct experiments that sparked curiosity in his children and grandchildren. He saw teaching as a lifelong calling that never left him.

He and Corinne kept close family ties, meeting each Fourth of July in Eastport, the town where his life began. Their strong bonds were evident in the annual gatherings that brought together multiple generations.

Calling hours will be held Monday, November 2, 5‑7 p.m. at the Carriage House of Wilkinson‑Beane‑Simoneau‑Paquette Funeral Home in Laconia, followed by a Mass on Tuesday, November 3, 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Parish in Belmont. The family requests donations to the Eastport Fourth of July Committee in lieu of flowers.
