Dartmouth men’s ice hockey began its season with a two‑game sweep of the University of Alaska Fairbanks at Thompson Arena.
On October 31 the Big Green won 6‑0 before 2,059 fans, and on November 1 they posted a 4‑0 victory in front of 1,862 spectators, according to Dartmouth Athletics.
Freshman forward Drew Stewart made an immediate impact, scoring the opening goal and adding three more to complete a hat trick, while also assisting two goals for a total of four points, and Stewart said he benefited from his teammates’ support and the adrenaline of his debut.
The team’s defense held Alaska Fairbanks scoreless and killed all four power‑play opportunities, and goaltender Emmett Croteau stopped 13 shots in the first game and 28 in the second, noting that he focuses on stopping the puck and staying grateful.
With a blend of senior leadership and freshman energy, the squad looks to build on last season’s ECAC championship and push toward the playoffs, a sentiment echoed by head coach Reid Cashman, who said the team is deep and experienced.
Upcoming home games against Yale on November 6 and Brown on November 7 will test the team’s momentum.
