Dean Clark, a 30‑year‑old man released from prison three weeks earlier, was sentenced to 22 months for a violent street affray on Christmas Eve 2025 in Derry city centre.
CCTV footage shown in Derry Crown Court captured the incident at 12.45 am near the junction of Strand Road and the Victoria Market, where Clark slapped people with gloves and punched a man in Sackville Street.
Judge Roseanne McCormick described the attack as a very unsavoury incident and said Clark, who had 108 prior convictions, was in a cycle of reoffending and at high risk of further violence.
He received a 22‑month term, with 11 months served in custody and the remaining 11 months on licence.
