The Concord Board of Education approved a $2 million increase to its 2026‑2027 budget to cover special education and Memorial Field expenses, raising total spending to $126 million.

The increase adds about $477,000 for special education, $600,000 for Memorial Field design, and $475,000 for workers’ compensation that was omitted in the March budget, according to Business Administrator Jack Dunn. The special education funds will pay for 14 educational aides, expand the occupational therapist position at Broken Ground School from three to four days per week, and add a full‑time charter school special educator, positions that previously had part‑time funding.

Memorial Field costs are being covered by a trust fund, so this year’s property taxes will not rise, and the city and school district split design and permitting expenses evenly; $100,000 in tax revenue will fund mold remediation at Beaver Meadow School, a problem caused by HVAC settings that were not reset during humid summer periods, Superintendent Tim Herbert said. Despite the budget boost, the school property tax rate is projected to fall about 27% after revaluation, though the Department of Revenue Administration will set the final rate later this month.
