A targeted shooting inside a Spirit Halloween store at the Solano Town Center in Fairfield, California, left one person dead and six others injured.
Police said the incident occurred late Friday and stemmed from a targeted attack by a single suspect, whose identity has not been released.
All seven victims suffered gunshot wounds; the deceased and the five survivors were taken to hospitals, with at least three remaining in critical condition.
Detectives are actively investigating, speaking with witnesses to identify the suspect, while the FBI Sacramento office sent an evidence response team to assist local police.
The Solano Town Center, which houses 130 stores and restaurants, kept the mall open Saturday but canceled its scheduled Halloween trick‑or‑treating event following the shooting.
Fairfield, located about 37 miles southwest of Sacramento, urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
