A Learjet 60 carrying nine people crashed nose‑first into a residential area in South Florida on Sunday, killing everyone on board.

The Learjet 60 had taken off from Austin‑Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was en route to the Bahamas when pilots reported severe turbulence, icing and rain, and requested a climb of 2,000 feet. The aircraft then entered a steep dive, descending at rates up to 30,000 feet per minute, declared an emergency, and crashed near a busy roadway, producing a huge fireball and thick black smoke.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis confirmed that all nine occupants perished and that no one on the ground was injured, while officials closed the road and evacuated roughly 600 residents from a nearby mobile‑home community as the NTSB and FAA launch an investigation.
