Elizabeth, who has lived at Fairways Duncreggan Residential Home for nearly 35 years, is experiencing a markedly improved quality of life after receiving a bespoke moulded wheelchair.
Learning disability occupational therapists Caoimhe Kirkpatrick and Samantha Boyle assessed her seating needs, coordinated with the Trust’s wheelchair services, and secured a custom chair that was delivered within eight weeks.
Home manager Sonia Bradley and the care staff report that Elizabeth’s mood has changed dramatically; she is now smiling, laughing and participating more actively in daily activities.
The rapid, collaborative intervention highlights the positive impact of occupational therapy, coinciding with World Occupational Therapy Day on 27 October.
