The public is being invited to shape the next stage of Derry’s £45 million Central Riverfront Project through a second engagement event at the Guildhall on 11 November. Community members are encouraged to attend and provide input on the emerging vision and road options.
The event will be open to drop‑in visitors between 10 am and 8 pm on Wednesday 11 November. An online consultation will run from 11 November to 11 December 2026, allowing those unable to attend in person to view the draft proposals and submit feedback.
Derived from the wider City Deal and backed by a £300 million investment, the project aims to reimagine the riverfront by improving road layouts, creating safer streets, expanding walking and cycling routes, and adding new high‑quality public spaces that support active travel and the evening economy. The scheme also seeks to enhance the city’s connectivity and attract visitors and residents alike.
Minister for Infrastructure Liz Kimmins said the scheme will deliver a dynamic, re‑invigorated waterfront that positions Derry as a vibrant European destination. Mayor Cllr Grace Uí Niallais emphasized that early community input has already shaped the emerging options and that further participation is essential to ensure the designs meet local needs.
The second of three planned events, this consultation will feed into the development of a preferred option. That option will be presented in 2027 before a planning application is submitted later that year.
