Lydia Carlin, the longtime owner of Simpson’s Supermarket in Carndonagh, has died at her Buncrana home, with her funeral set for Friday, November 6.
She passed away on November 4, and the supermarket remained closed on Wednesday as a sign of respect. A familiar and respected presence in Inishowen and Donegal business circles, she had managed the store for many decades.
Carlin was part of the Simpson family, which has a long‑standing tradition in retail, hospitality and property development across Inishowen, Donegal, Derry and beyond. She is survived by her husband Joey and their children and grandchildren, while her parents and a brother predeceased her.
